The success story
Our profession is wood, thats what we started with and thats what we hang on to. Started in 1948 with the sawmill founded by Mrs. Barbara Pfeifer and carried on by the three brothers Oskar, Fritz and Bernhard Pfeifer, the Holzindustrie grow to one of the leading woodprocessing companies in Europe with more than 1.500 employees and sites in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
1971
Starting the production of shuttering panels in Imst (Austria).
1975
Takeover of a frame saw plant in Stams in Tyrol/Austria. Yearly cutting about 30.000 solid cubic meter.
1978
Takeover of a sawmill in Kundl (Austria).
1982
Installation of a cutting line from Link in the sawmill Kundl (Austria). Current yearly cutting about 945.000 solid cubic meter of logs.
1985
Commissioning of the natural wood panelling plant in Imst (Austria). Current annual production capacity of 2.000.000 sqm of three-ply and single-ply panels.
1988
Starting the production of the first glue laminated beams plant in Imst (Austria) with a daily capacity of 50 cubic meter in two shifts.
1990
Commissioning of a new shuttering panels production plant in Imst (Austria). Current yearly production 3.950.000 sqm of shuttering panels.
1991
Commissioning of our briquette plant in Imst (Austria). Annual capacity of 25.000 tons per year.
1992
Starting the production of our H20 formwork beams in Imst (Austria). Current capacity of 6.000.000 running meter of formwork beams per year.
1994
Production begins at one of the most modern glue-laminated beams plants and two new planing plants in Imst (Austria). Current annual production 135.000 cubic meters of glue-laminated beams.
1996
A new pellet and wood briquette production is installed at the sawmill in Kundl (Austria). The electric power supply is garantueed by our own block heating station. Current production of 135.000 tons of pellets per year.
2000
Starting the production in a second glue laminated beams plant to manufacture raw panels. Currently single-ply panels for the shuttering panels production are produced at this plant.
2002
In February the new frame heavy-timber sawmill in Imst (Austria) was put into operation. Annual production of about 100.000 solid cubic meters of logs.
2003
Planning phase of a new heating power plant in Kundl.
2004
The production capacity in Imst (Austria) and in Schlitz (Germany) was expanded. Another frame for processing heavy timber came into operation at each site.
2005
At the sawmill in Kundl (Austria) a new planing factory was put into operation.
2007
Construction of a flange production in our formwork beams site in Imst. New sorting possibilities and quality inspection because of scanners allow an increased production.
2008
A new pelleting plant in Imst was put into operation. At the location Imst, the Holzindustrie Pfeifer is able to produce about 25.000 tons pellets.
